Application for PACS awards are received early in the winter term for awards that are given to students the following fall, unless otherwise stated. Applications should be submitted to the Peace and Conflict Studies Program at Conrad Grebel University College by February 27.

Becky Frey Student Scholarship
A scholarship of approximately $1,000 will be awarded to a second or third-year student enrolled in the Peace and Conflict Studies program. The scholarship will be based on a combination of scholastic ability and financial need.
Global Conflict Management and Transformation Award
This award supports and promotes the training of community leaders from areas of conflict around the world in theories and practical methods of conflict management and transformation. Funds will be used to offset costs of education for students from areas of conflict while they are enrolled in Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS) courses or Conflict Management Certificate courses at Conrad Grebel University College.
Recipients will be chosen with the following criteria:
Students originating from an area of conflict;
Students who are giving leadership or have potential to provide leadership in the area of conflict management and transformation in their home community;
Students enrolled in a PACS course (either as undergraduate, graduate or in the IPACS Conflict Management Certificate program).
The award will typically be approximately $5000.
The Mary and Walter Hougham PACS Award
This award was established to provide financial support for students studying PACS at Conrad Grebel University College who have demonstrated financial need.
This award is given to:
• Students enrolled in the PACS program at Grebel
• Students who qualify for OSAP funding
• Students who demonstrate involvement in and commitment to the PACS program
There are up to three awards of $500.
Elliot I. McLoughry Fund Scholarship
Recipients of this award must be PACS students who are making outstanding contributions to the PACS program through scholarly achievement in courses or research, and/or leadership in student peace organizations. This scholarship is approximately $400.
Peter C. and Elisabeth Williams Memorial Fund Scholarship
Annual scholarships from these funds are awarded to students in the PACS program at Conrad Grebel University College who promote peace and peaceful relations between people and nations. Recipients must be students who are making outstanding contributions to the PACS program through scholarly achievement in courses or field work. Nominations are normally made by members of the PACS faculty. Awards are approximately $400.
Lina Wohlgemut Award
This award offers assistance to PACS students from the developing world, students interested in service in the developing world or students interested in service within the context of the church. An annual award of approximately $600 is normally awarded.
The Vic and Rita Krueger Family PACS Award
This award supports incoming first-year students intending to major in PACS, who qualify for OSAP and demonstrate a commitment to the ideals of the PACS program. Completed applications should be addressed to the Director of the Peace and Conflict Studies Program at Conrad Grebel University College prior to August 25.
Recipients will be chosen giving preference to the following criteria:
• Students enrolled in a PACS core course
• Students intending to pursue a PACS major
• Students who qualify for OSAP funding
• Students who demonstrate a commitment to the ideals of the PACS program (through a letter of application that outlines personal experience in peace issues, study goals and long term career aspirations).
Two awards of approximately $1,000 will be awarded annually. (50% in the student's first year and the remainder in their second year after PACS is declared as a major.)
Students accepted to a field studies course are automatically considered for the following awards. No application is necessary for the awards.
William Dick PACS Field Study Award
This award of $2,000 supports and promotes the PACS Field Study program among students at CGUC and those pursuing studies at UW. Financial support for students will also aid the work of the agencies for which they volunteer. Recipients will be chosen using the following criteria:
PACS Internships Awards
These awards are available to students pursuing a PACS plan who have been accepted to a Field Studies course.
