The Benjamin Eby Lecture is an annual lecture that presents the research of a faculty member at Conrad Grebel University College. It is named after Benjamin Eby (1785-1853), an early educator and Mennonite church leader in Waterloo County. Jim Pankratz is Dean of Conrad Grebel University College, University of Waterloo. He completed his studies in Religion at McMaster University. During his doctoral research in Kolkata, India he studied nineteenth century religious debates within Hindu society that were prompted by the encounter with European Christianity and liberalism. He later served for three years with Mennonite Central Committee in Bangladesh, India and Nepal. He has taught and published on World Religions, Religion and Culture, Religion and Socio-Economic Development, Worship, Global Christianity, and Christian Faith and Other Faiths.
