Ted Swartz is a comedian, actor and playwright from Harrisonburg, Va., who founded Ted & Co. He invites audiences to peel away centuries of biblical interpretation to rediscover the plain and humorous humanity of those who walked toward faith. Sunday, January 15, 7:00pm at Rockway Mennonite Collegiate, 110 Doon Road, Kitchener Thursday, January 19, 7:00pm in the Conrad Grebel Chapel, 140 Westmount Rd. N, Waterloo Friday, January 20, 7:00pm in the Conrad Grebel Great Hall, 140 Westmount Rd. N, Waterloo Rediscovering the Sacred Through Laughter As a Chaplain I understand the need to use drama as a creative way to engage the Biblical text. This ‘equipping’ session is for local churches, worship committees, liturgists, preachers, etc. Our goal is to help worship planners and congregations think about the use of drama in worship, give them some suggestions of both material and technique and perhaps even a little practice. In this workshop you will collaborate with other biblical storytellers and dramatists to unleash the transformative power of scripture. This workshop, directed by actors Ted Swartz and Jeff Raught of the acclaimed Ted & Company TheaterWorks will allow you to interact closely with sacred texts and lend you the courage to share truth in profound new ways. With a healthy dose of humor, Ted and Jeff demonstrate their unique method of creating sketches for worship, structuring inventive reading, and simply reading scripture more imaginatively. Ted is a wonderful resource and delightful actor who is very creative in his Biblical interpretation.
